Membership Types and Attendance
Regular: The most common membership type. Our 1.3 million members in more than 47,000 clubs all over the world work to better their communities and fight for Lions Clubs International’s global causes.
An Associate member is also a member of another club where he or she pays dues.
Member At Large (MAL)* not able to attend meetings, must be approved by the board every 6 months.
Affiliated Member* is for members who, because of health or job, aren’t able to make meetings, but would still like to be members. Generally available for projects.
Privileged Member* is a member with over 15 years as a Lion and not able to attend meetings.
*These categories must be requested by the member. If you feel one of these categories fit your present situation contact the President or Secretary for more information. Keep in mind, of course, your presence is desired at every meeting. This is your Club and your ideas and hard work have made us the best club in the Northwest.
ATTENDANCE: Attendance is an important part of being a Lion. At meetings project sign-up sheets are passed around, new projects are discussed and voted on. You can’t pass on your obligation to the members who regularly attend. You are a Lion, and it is your responsibility to know what your club is doing and be available to participate. Members who continue ‘in name only’ do a disservice to themselves and fellow Lions. Please attend meetings whenever you can.
Meetings can be made up by:
-Attending any meeting at another Lions Club.
-Attending a local Board Meeting
-Attending Zone, Regional, district, or National Meetings
-Participating in Club projects and activities.
Members can be excused from meetings, at the discretion of the club, due to work, illness, military duty, or other occurrences, when they conflict with meetings. Missing meetings does not excuse the member from participation in ongoing or future projects.

Melvin Jones Fellowships
The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award is the highest recognition offered by Lions Club International, named after the organization’s founder, Melvin Jones. It honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional service and commitment to the Lions’ humanitarian ideals. Presented to those who donate US$1,000 to Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) or to people for whom a donation was made the club, it’s a tremendous contribution to humanity and to the legacy of our founder, Melvin Jones.
Club Community Impact Grant is available to qualified clubs by donating a minimum of US$5,000 to LCIF Empowering Service Fund within one fiscal year. The eligible club funds are 15% of the donations attributed to club members or the club itself. LCIF encourages all members to donate $100/year to Empowering Service Fund, which is only ~$8/month. Automatic transfers are available here.
Annually, our club sponsors Melvin Jones awards as funds are available and service is warranted. (*deceased)
