Medical Equipment Loans
We loan medical equipment, such as hospital beds, walkers, wheelchairs, shower/bath seats, toilet risers, knee scooters, and more, at no cost, to our Oak Harbor community. For more information, to donate equipment, or if you need equipment, please call 360-499-6476. If you are interested in volunteering for our local program, please call us. The program takes 3-4 active volunteers to make it all possible.
At this time, we cannot accept ‘prescription items’ such as diabetes testers, prosthetics, walking boots, colostomy, incontinent, or c-pap machines. Incontinent products can be donated to Garage of Blessings or “For the Girls” programs.
We cannot accept electronic wheelchairs due to cost prohibitive battery replacement costs. For electronic wheelchairs, please contact Veteran & Community Mobility Center, Rich Sundance 360.420.4046. Per Rich, “for electric wheelchair donations, if possible, please text photos. For requests, please call/text: recipient’s height, approx. weight, any special needs such as tilt, lift, recline, elevate, electric light extensions, etc.”
We proudly support Central Lions Club’s Mexicali Project which brings medical equipment and eyeglasses to rural areas of Mexico.
Annually, we proudly support local Summit Assistance mobility assistance dogs.
For Coupeville (& south island), please contact Coupeville Lions.
Scholarships
We offer two scholarships to graduating Oak Harbor Seniors. The Chuck Anderson Vocational Scholarship is renewable for two years. The Dur Roberson Academic Scholarship is renewable for four years. For more information, call us.
Camp Horizon
We participate by fundraising, performing maintenance at the camp, sponsoring campers, and serving meals at Camp Horizon.
Flag Sponsorship
Each year, we proudly display hundreds of American flags throughout the community on twelve special occasions, made possible by the generous sponsorship of local businesses and individuals. Flag Display Dates:
* MLK Jr. Day * President’s Day
* St. Patrick’s Day * Holland Happening
* Memorial Day * Juneteenth
* Independence Day * Labor Day
* September 11 * Columbus Day
* Veterans Day * Pearl Harbor Day
Please note that dates may occasionally vary based on volunteer availability, and frozen ground may prevent flag placement. We aim to display flags during daylight hours only. If you’re interested in volunteering, we need 8 people to help with both morning and evening flag setup. We can provide high school and command volunteer letters. Contact us to get involved!

Global Causes Hunger & Diabetes
Locally, we support North Whidbey Help House who supports our vulnerable community members. They also prepare special food boxes for those with diabetes. Hunger and Diabetes are two Lions Global Causes. In July, we collect food donations to stuff the bus for Christmas in July.
Global Cause Environment: Earth Day and Adopt-a-Road
Quarterly, we pickup litter on State Route 20, from Monroe Landing Road to Sidney Street, a distance of about four miles. This project requires about 16 Lions to safely complete, and takes only about one hour. After, we often gather at a local restaurant for breakfast. We can provide high school and command volunteer letters. Due to state adopt-a-highway requirements, volunteers aged 16+ are invited to volunteer with us.
Annually, we support Lions in Deception Pass cleanup day near Earth Day. The environment is one of Lions International Global Causes. To participate with us, give us a call or watch Facebook for details.
